Some People.....

Okay so I have been walking my 7 month old chocolate lab at a park near my house. The park has a creek running through it but that is beside the point. We have encountered lots of people and a few dogs. I'm not an overprotective dog owner but I've invested quite a bit of money in my dog so far and don't want him to get hurt..

Encounter #1 - Jr spots another lab so I yell across the field at the owner to ask how old the dog is. Turns out he's a little younger than Jr so I take him over to say hello. Now my dog is best described as Frank the Tank from the movie Old School. He's ready to party...duh he's my dog! Jr goes in with both guns blazing and scares the holy living do-do out of the other chocolate friend. The older woman with this group of people has had about enough of my dog and decides they need to move on - ok whatever your dog is a wussy anyway...no harm done to either party just neighbors thinking my dog needs pyschological help which he might...once again duh he's my dog!

Encounter #2 - It is early Sunday morning and it has been raining I figure NO ONE is going to be out....WRONG!!!! I have Jr off the leash and we are exploring I spot this mutt jamming up the trail towards us - Jr has seen nothing! I put the leash and his head gear (Gentle Leader) back on. The Gentle Leader best thing ever however I think Jr is embarassed to have it on around other dogs which oh well learn to walk on a leash without acting like a moron and I'll take it off. Back to the scene black mutt about to bum rush us..I get the leash on Jr just in time as this other dog approaches. This time Jr gets a taste of his own medicine because this dog had both guns blazing as he came up and decides he is going to growl at Jr. So I am struggling trying to keep the black mutt off June and not get bit, meanwhile the owner of the black mutt is casually walking up the trail watching this whole thing! WTH? She walks by, motions her dog to come on and says nothing to me! Not a " Oh gosh sorry about that" or " Your dog sucks and that's why my dog tried to attack him" or "Are you ok? Let me put my crappy black mutt on a leash so you and your dog can leave.." NOTHING! At this point the other dog is long gone and Jr is more wound up than ever!

As I said before I'm not an overprotective dog owner but common courtesty would be nice. I would NEVER let Jr do that to another dog or a person. What if I had my kids with me? Travis would have freaked out when that black mutt came running up full speed and then I would have had two upset kids to deal with (Jr and Travis)!

  1. Jamie - LOVE THE BLOG, Gina!!! A tales of a dog owner... such drama. I hate it when people are bad dog moms... like come on people, use some common sense!
